Bible Study

12:14:00 PM

One of my goals for this year is to read through the whole Bible. But I don't just want to read it. I want to study it.

Bible study is very important for the growth of the believer. How else could they find out about God and His attributes? Pastors and Bible teachers can tell you about these things, but we must remember that we shouldn't take whatever someone else says as true. We should be searching the Scriptures ourselves.

"These [people in Berea] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." (Acts 17:11 KJV)

It seems that many believers are content with their salvation and don't feel the need to grow in God's Word.
"Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:... How long, ye simple ones, will you love simplicity?" (Proverbs 1:20, 22 KJV)
"Knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth." (Proverbs 14:6 KJV)
But God has so much more for us than just going through life! He wants us to know and understand His Word. Why would He give us a Book if He didn't want us to know about Himself?

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16 KJV)
So, this year, let me challenge you to not just read the Bible, but actually to study it.
