Wisdom vs. Foolishness

Hello everyone! Today I will be sharing a comparison from Proverbs on wisdom vs. foolishness. I hope this finds you well! God bless~ Diamond

Proverbs 16:16 - How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

This is saying that wisdom is to be valued more than gold and silver. This is a very high thought on learning. In America, some people look at learning as a given, and sometimes even as a burden. But what is not realized is that learning is something that will make life easier, and also, when learning about God, help you have a better relationship with Him. Now that is something worth more than gold!

Proverbs 18:2 - A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Wow, such a small verse with such a huge meaning. Understanding to a fool, is useless, this is very sad, because there is so much a person looses when they fail to have understanding. Sometimes in movies and other things, you will hear a quote like “Live for yourself, learn the inner you” or “I need to prove this to myself”. These quotes are focused on the second part of this verse “but that his heart may discover itself”, a lot of what the world steers us to is the very opposite of what God wants for us. Instead of “discovering your inner self,” which is feelings focused, discover what God has to say in the Bible about who He made us to be.

Proverbs 13:3 - He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

We should know how to say things correctly and when. When someone wants to be the first to bare bad news, they could be sending the message that they are foolish. Someone who has learned to keep quiet shows humility, and that they care more for others needs then for their own. Patience in speech is a sight of wisdom.

Proverbs 29:11 - A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise [man] keepeth it in till afterwards.

Brain sharing is a foolish habit. Saying everything that comes to someone’s mind, makes them look like they don’t care about how they sound, which makes them, in return look as a fool. Though people like hearing about other people, when they are hearing every thought and movement, it makes the person look careless.

Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

There is often temptation to be prideful. But when someone has the idea that they know everything they need to know, and don’t want to know anything else, they have been blinded by pride. Pride feels powerful, like a form of perfection, but it is really a great weakness and leads to shame.

Proverbs 14:15 - The simple believeth every word: but the prudent [man] looketh well to his going.

The world is full of answers to all of life’s problems. One could spend a lifetime trying this and that and always failing. The prudent person doesn’t believe everything they’re told but diligently seeks out wisdom and truth. The source of truth is the Word of God, which is why it’s so important to know His Word. If we don’t know His truth and the Author, we won’t easily recognize a deception.

  1. WOW Again, I found this blog so profound it blesses my heart and I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the woman of God you are and will be. The truth of everything you wrote is so simple and so easy and yet I know the world fights it. What I love is your understanding of the Word and that it is the humble sincerity of your heart where it resides and emanates from.

The enemy tries to deceive us and make things seem so hard and keeps us so busy, you know that is the devils acronym. B.U.S.Y. (being under Satans Yoke) I believe he tries to keep God's people of the world busy with so many things that are worldly and not Godly. It takes away our time that we should be spending with the Lord and walking in his ways.

Anyhow, your understanding of the word and the way you walk it out and live your life just blesses me immensely, almost to where it makes my heart want to cry tears of joy so enjoy your day dear diamond and I look forward to watching the brilliant rays of light that you bring into this world, may God continue to bless you and keep you in all good things and his plans for you. Love grandma E

PS. I am doing a Bible study on Conversation Peace right now, and of course these scriptures go perfect with it and I thought wow, Diamond could be teaching this Bible study. Reading a chapter from Proverbs each day makes a perfect way to start my day since there are 31 chapters it is a great read to do over a month. 🤗💕
    Much love to you.

  2. Thank you Grandma! What you said touches my heart! I agree. Business is a tool that everyone must watch out for. Often it seems that there is SO MUCH to do, when really, it's a cover up for something very bad. We tend to think that the world "needs" us, when really, it's us who need God. Your bible study sounds really good. I recently finished a bible study on Gratitude that I did with my Church family. It was really good, and eye-opening. Oh! I do love Proverbs! That's really cool that you are reading through it! I love you too!
