The Inevitable Reality of Death

6:25:00 PM
Death.

It's kind of an uncomfortable topic.

No one really wants to think about the day they die.

But, it will inevitably come to each and every one of us. (That is, if the Lord tarries.)

And so, why not be ready?

Why are people scared of death? To most people, death means something unknown; something new. They're not sure what's coming next, so that leads to fear. But as Christians, we can overcome this fear because we know what's coming!

Death is the wages of our sin.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23 KJV)
But God is holding us in His hand!
"For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lords." (Romans 14:8 KJV)
We also know that God has provided a resurrection!!
"For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Cor. 15:21-22 KJV)
For a Christian, death ushers us into everlasting rest with Jesus. Now, what's scary about that?
"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (1 Cor.  15:55 KJV)
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Phil. 1:21 KJV)
For a non Christian, death leaves them to languish for an eternity in God's judgement. Now, that IS scary.

Which is why we should be always be convincing others of God's free gift.

So, if you're saved, Why are you scared of death?
