Fruit of the Spirit: Meekness

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV)

Today I'm going to talk about a lesser known fruit of the Spirit: Meekness.

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better other better than themselves." (Philippians 2:3 KJV)
What is meekness? Meek means quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive.
Isn't that interesting that it's a condition. It's not something that you do; it's something that you are.

Meekness is especially important for us girls.
"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." (1 Peter 3:3-4 KJV)
But before you guys think that this doesn't apply to you:
"But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness." (1 Timothy 6:11 KJV)
In our culture, meekness is not something praised. The world will tell you to be bold and stand up for your rights and become what you want to become. But Jesus gave us the best example when He left everything in heaven for us.
"And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves..." (2 Timothy 2:25-26 KJV)
But aren't we suppose to be bold in giving the gospel to others? Well, yes of course. But even when we're stepping out of our comfort zones to witness, we should still have a meek spirit about us.
"...and be ready always to give an answer to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" (1 Peter 3:15 KJV)
As Christians, we can't act like we know everything... because we don't (unfortunately). If we remember that we were once sinners drowning in our sins while we witness to others who don't know Christ,  that will help us have a more meek attitude.

Is this an area that you need work in? If we're Christians, we should always be striving to grow more in our walk with God.

"Ye shall know them by their fruits." (Matthew 7:15 KJV)

Do people see in Christ in you?
