For When Life Hurts: Rest for the Weary Soul

Monday, August 20, 2018

Life hurts. There are moments where it seems like the whole world has turned against you. The people you trusted with your life back-stab you and it seems as though the walls around you are tumbling down.

But please, dear friend, do not give up. Don't let the people and the circumstances around you influence you. I saw a quote the other day and it goes like this:
Ships don't sink because of the water around them.Ships sink because of the water that gets in them.Don't let what's happening around you get inside you and weigh you down.
When you feel every little thing, it's hard not to let things go to your heart. But it's okay to guard your heart and not let certain things affect you. Other people will mess up, you will mess up, but most of the time the best thing to do is just move on.

Remember, storms don't last forever - one day the morning will come. But in the meanwhile, learn to praise God in the midst of the storm.

Because as long as we are searching for fulfillment in anything outside of God, we will never be satisfied. But when we learn to lay everything at God's feet - the good things and the bad things - our focus begins to change, and we realize that God has so much more in store for us.

Sometimes it's hard to remember, but life is beautiful. Every single day we live is a gift. Every breath we take is a miracle. And it's all beautiful.

Life doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. You just have to keep your eyes open for the everyday beauties that so many people miss because they are focused on the bad.

I know that life is hard. I know there are some days where you may find it hard to get out of bed to face the day. But please, hold on. Hold on to God and His promises to you. Hold on to the simple beauties that can change your perspective.

And remember, if you're a child of God, this world is not your final resting place.

"... for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." ~ Hebrews 13:5b
