A Month of Friendship // Treasures in the Sand

Friday, September 28, 2018

To start off, I just want to say thank you to all my blogging friends who contributed to this series this year. It was really a blessing to me since we were traveling almost this whole month and I didn't have to worry about getting posts together.

I loved all the different posts, and hearing everyone's unique perspective on friendship!

As someone who's gone through different seasons of having lots of friends to having only a few, I think it's easy for me to say that when you have good friends it's so so easy to take them for granted. They're always there, they always have been there, so you don't even think twice about them.

But once you go through a time where you lose some of those friendships - then you realize what a blessing they truly were.

Life is like a beach - all sorts of things wash up on shore. Trash, bottles, sea weed, broken shells, dead animals; but every once in a while you find a treasure. Maybe a full sand dollar, an unbroken sea shell, or a pearl.

There are friendships that are like those common things that wash up on shore. They're just casual friends that you meet along your path who may come and go. But one day you find someone who's more than just a casual friend. Someone who loves the same things you love, who believes some of the same things you believe, and who's passionate about the things you're passionate about.

True friendships are like treasures in the sand. You may have to look to find them, you may even have to dig a little bit, but they're there.

Have you found your treasure in the sand? If not, don't lose hope. The Lord has a way of bringing just the right people into our lives at just the right time.

And if you have, don't take that person for granted.

And so we close out year two of friendship month... I hope you all enjoyed it!

I'll see you in October for some new content that the Lord's been laying on my heart <3

  1. This was a lovely reminder, Ashley! <3

  2. I found the person i am so proud to call my friend. She is the only person other than my fam who i'd be willing to die for. She is a God given blessing and life without her would be kinda sad.

    1. That's so great Evan! I love people like that :)
